We have begun a new chapter at Serif and I’m so excited for the year ahead. When the company was founded, it was primarily a video production company. Over the last three years, we’ve transitioned from a video production shop to a holistic services creative agency. 2018 was a year of heads down production for some of the most exciting work to date. We also took the time to look within and began planning for the latest evolution of our agency.
As we worked to finalize our vision, we focused on opportunities for improvement. This focus on growth will affect us internally as well as in the work we create, all of which encompass strategy, creative, and production.
We began with restructuring our leadership with three key positions over strategy, creative, and production. First, we have appointed Andy Stiebler as President and Director of Strategy. Andy’s background in content strategy, UX, and client health makes him one of the most valuable assets we can provide to our clients.
We then hired David Ball as head of Production. David has two decades experience in film production, spending a large portion of that at Spacejunk here in Columbus, using his broad range of skills to lead the creation of engaging film and video for a long list of clients.
We then acquired Todd Novak after leaving IBM iX, formerly Resource/Ammirati, to become Serif’s Creative Director. Todd’s 20 years experience of leading branding, digital engagements and content creation for globally recognized brands was the final piece we needed to complete the vision for Serif’s growth overseeing creative.
These additions are huge for us. Our combined experience in strategy, film, and creative services mean we have an inherent understanding of what elements trigger human behavior. There is nothing that a client can throw at us that we can’t handle.
To help potential clients gain a better understanding of who we are and the services we provide we just launched a brand new website. One of the hardest things to do is creating branding and marketing for your own agency. We handled this internally and our team has produced a site that truly reflects who we are and I am very proud of that.
Surely the biggest move we have made in Serif’s history is the purchase of our new building. The Short North has been very good to us but we are excited to call the historic Brewery District our new home beginning February 1, 2019. The new space has been designed for collaborative creation for our team and our clients.
While we’re investing locally in Columbus, we also have plans for Serif to expand including an office opening outside of Ohio in late 2019. As I said, this is going to be a great year.
Lastly, and most importantly, I want to thank our clients for a fantastic year we had together in 2018. We would not be where we are today without them. Thank you for being a part of our story.
